چکیده

The density fluctuation of Geodesic Acoustic Mode (GAM) zonal flow has been observed in Ohmic deuterium plasma discharges with Langmuir probe arrays on the HL-2A tokamak. The density fluctuation has the poloidal mode number m < 1 and toroidal mode number n ~ 0. Its amplitude is consistent with theoretic prediction as well. Bispectral analysis shows that the nonlinear interaction between the GAM zonal flow and high frequency ambient turbulence (HFAT) is a plausible mechanism for the generation of the GAM. The phase shifts between the GAM and its envelope of the HFAT (200-450 kHz) with different poloidally separations are π/2 to π, indicating that the ambient turbulence is regulated by the GAM through envelope modulation. Experimental Study of Zonal Flow, Geodesic Acoustic Mode and Turbulence Regulation in Edge Plasmas of the HL-2A Tokamak

The coexistence of intensive low frequency zonal flows (LFZFs) and geodesic acoustic modes (GAMs) has been observed by identifying the spatial characteristics, i.e. the symmetries in poloidal and toroidal directions, and the finite radial wave number, using three-dimensional Langmuir probe arrays in the edge plasmas of HL-2A tokamak. The analysis of three wave coupling with ambient turbulence s...

Significant experimental advances have been made on HL-2A tokamak along with substantial improvement and development of hardware. The three dimensional spectral structures of the low frequency zonal flow, the geodesic acoustic mode (GAM), and quasi-mode-like low frequency fluctuations have been observed simultaneously for the first time. In addition, the spectral structure of the density fluctu...

Three-dimension spectral characteristics of low-frequency Zonal Flow in the edge plasma of HL-2A tokamak

The low-frequency Zonal Flow (LFZF), coexisting with the geodesic acoustic mode (GAM) was observed at the edge of HL-2A tokamak plasmas using four Langmuir probe arrays. It is identified as a low-frequency coherent mode peaking near zero frequency and broadening several kilohertz on the power spectral density (PSD) of the floating potential fluctuations. Besides the poloidal and toroidal axisym...

Properties of geodesic acoustic modes and the relation to density fluctuations.

The geodesic acoustic mode (GAM) is a high frequency branch of zonal flows, which is observed in toroidal plasmas. Because of toroidal curvature effects, density fluctuations are excited, which are investigated with the O-mode correlation reflectometer at TEXTOR. This Letter reports on the poloidal distribution of GAM induced density fluctuation and compares them with theoretical predictions. T...

OV / 4 - 5 1 Overview of Experimental Results on the HL - 2 A Tokamak

The physics experiments on the HL-2A tokamak have been focused on confinement improvement, particle and thermal transport, zonal flow and turbulence, filament characteristics, energetic particle induced modes, and plasma fueling efficiency since 2008. ELMy H-mode discharges are achieved using combination of NBI heating with ECRH. The power threshold is found to increase with decrease of density...
